Elaine Fordham - Labour Candidate for Hartley Wintney, Hart District Council
I am Elaine Fordham, your Labour Candidate for this area.
I moved to Hart in 2011 from Hythe, Hants, following the sudden death of my husband of 35 years. I have three children now in their 40s and 50s, and five grandchildren whose ages range from 10 yrs to 24 yrs.
My profession was as a Nurse and Community Midwife, and I served as Deputy Chairperson and Clinical Governance Lead for the Southampton Primary Care Team.
On retirement at age 57, I retrained as a teacher in Secondary and 6th Form College.
I served two years as a Parish Councillor in Hook.
Currently I am an invigilator in a Secondary school in Basingstoke, and a volunteer in a local Junior school, mainly listening to year 3 readers.
As you can imagine, my passion is to fight for improvement in health provision, education, and the economy.
As I see it, the party that is in power and making the most inroads to improving these areas is Labour, after years of neglect by the Tories.
Please vote Labour to enable us to fulfil our agenda for change. It is taking time to turn the juggernaut around, but it is gradually happening. Please give us more time and your support to achieve our goal. Having local Labour representation will give us direct contact with a central government which has the power to make changes. More changes such as those already made: childcare expansion, rollout of free breakfast clubs, expanding free school meals, limiting branded school uniform requirements, removal of the 2-child benefit cap, and creating 1,000 new “Best Start Family Hubs” for community support.
Vote Labour for the sake of our children, and their children’s future.
